We've tried hiring ex-NFL coaches (Mora, Chip), coaches who've won at other programs (Neuheisel, Chip), coaches who were successful as players here (Foster, Dorrell), coaches who were successful as assistants here (Toledo). All of these have worked for other programs but haven't worked for us.
There's no guarantee that copying exactly what worked for some other program will work again.
You just have to get lucky with these things (and have all the other things that make programs successful, like fan support, facilities, NIL money).
