A TRO is an "extraordinary" legal remedy which has a high bar and so is not often granted. In addition to showing that you will likely prevail in the underlying lawsuit you also have to show that you will suffer "irreparable" harm that cannot be compensated by money. It is very likely that the judge denied the motion based on this requirement, since it certainly seems like all of the RB's damages are compensable monetarily. However this is a big win for UCLA in that they are not blocked from continuing the discussions and, if our ultimate strategy is to bring the RB to the table for amendments to the existing agreement, this might just do that since they can't otherwise stop the Bruins from breaching the contract and signing with SoFi.
