The NCAA champion could not beat an NBA team or many foreign pro teams.
A high school champion can't beat an NCAA team.
Sugar Ray Leonard couldn't beat a pro heavyweight you might have considered a bum.
Usain Bolt could not beat a cheetah.
Try swimming a race against a swordfish.
All kinds of competitions are sorted by class, or as one poster said, like vs. like.
UCLA had the best women's college basketball team in America, and the best in UCLA history. Possibly the best in Big 10 history. And did it despite not having great long-term pedigree in the sport.
That's pretty darned impressive.
