If Chesney can go 16-8 (regular season), that's good. You think that's unreasonable?
You have to understand that 6 of those games are against SDSU, Nevada, UC Davis, Hawaii, and Purdue x 2. We don't play Indiana or Ohio St. for the next two years.
You have better NIL. You have the portal. You have a break in scheduling. If you don't see a lot of progress in the first two years, it's not going to happen. that doesn't mean Chesney will be fired; it just means he won't win big here.
Chesney himself knows all this. That's why you don't hear him lowering expectations but rather saying things like "we're back" and getting the hype machine in full gear. He also said we will win a Big 10 championship.
Because after going 5-7 and 6-6, no one will be listening. He may not actually win a championship for 5-6 years, but he needs to get us at a high level pretty quickly if he wants to succeed.
