College athletics are not self-funding. They have always depended upon donations. NIL payments have vastly grown the financial demand. This means we need an increase in both the donation size per donor and in the number of donors.
The sustainability of those increases is yet to be proven. UCLA does not have its Phil Knight or T. Boone Pickens.
