Thing about obesity is it is food first and foremost.

Yes, this is non-football related for those who get bothered so I'll keep it to this.

When I worked in San Antonio, that was a very out of shape city as a whole. There really was something to what Charles Barkley said about SA women. I went to the grocery store one day and just watched family's purchasing habits. Very few in the fruits and vegetable aisles, but all in the processed foods. Then you go to Austin, TX which is something like 70 miles away and it's the opposite. Everybody looks good out there. So was having a conversation with someone who was pretty knowledgeable on the subject and really looked into things more deeply. One factor is culture and habits that affect eating, but what really stood out was the amount of dollars that go into marketing fast food, sodas, etc that are aimed at lower income people/families. There is a reason why fast food restaurants are prevalent in lower to mid income neighborhoods and not near as many in upper income neighborhoods.

I worked in NOLA and Baton Rouge. Pretty hot and humid there, but I was fortunate enough to stay in a pretty nice part of Baton Rouge. Lousiana has some serious obesity where they love their fried food and alcohol. But Baton Rouge was also HUGE into Beach Volleyball and they had running and biking clubs. I was fortunate enough to get to play beach VB there and got to play some tennis. Why LSU beach volleyball does so well. So it really is diet and lifestyle.
