Bevaqua is very out of touch

poor, poor scholarship athletes...what is the world coming to

"The concept of a cap emanating from the House settlement, in my opinion, is a fallacy," Bevacqua said. "There is no cap. It's an equation. ... You're going to have a generation of student-athletes, thousands of cases, that are finishing their college journey without a college degree, with money that is fleeting, so by the time they're 25, they've torn through that money and it's kind of a good luck for the rest of your life."

"good luck for the rest of your life"...isn't that our national motto?

When Pisin' Pete bemoans the "thousands of cases, that are finishing their college journey without a college degree"...whose fault is that?

The players? They're not the ones who set a schedule that requires 50 hours a week to play football, leaving little time for school work...that's on the coaching staff.

What about a little empathy for the "thousands of cases [of regular students], that are finishing their college journey WITH a college degree", and with NO money in the bank, and with huge student loan debt, and with no job prospects in sight?

By the time they're 25, living in mom's basement, beset with ADHD from endless brain rot doom scrolling, contemplating dark thoughts...good luck with the rest of your life, indeed.

My biggest issue with the proposed legislation is paying a penalty if a player wants to transfer a 2nd time or more. Coaches can transfer as much as they want without having to sit out a year. So can regular students. A trombone player in Michigan's band can transfer to Cal and play immediately. Why are athletes being discriminated against?
