Don't blame me. Blame ESPN.

OTOH, it doesn't seem crazy to me. Here's how I see the season.

Michigan State, Nevada, and Illinois seem like wins to me. That's 7 wins.

USC and Michigan seem like toss-ups to me. Neither team seems as good as they were expected to be before the season. Suppose we win 1 of them. That's 8 wins.

So we are left with Oregon, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. If we win 2 of those, we are at 10 wins. That seems like a tall order. I think most likely we win 1 of them, which takes us to the expected 9-3 season.

But is it impossible to win 2 of them? Suppose we lose to Oregon. That leaves us with two 50-50 games. The most likely outcome is we split them, but we have a 25% chance of winning them both.

I realize that's a lot of "ifs", but none of that is crazy.

9 or 8 wins, still seems like the right expectation for the season.

BTW, ESPN gives us a better chance of beating Oregon than the pointspread indicates. It's time to shock the world.
