There goes the generational support.

It may not have been about money in the sense that people were willing to pay to see the games, but then when prices and fees kept increasing while the quality of the product sharply decreased, long after all the fair weather fans bailed, the diehards started questioning what the point of continuing to go to games was, particularly when season ticket holders started noticing that they could get much better single game tickets for far less than they were paying in their season ticket packages. And then once they started dumping season tickets and just going to a few select games instead, they discovered that "wow, my 85 inch TV is actually pretty good for watching the games, I don't have to drive over an hour each way, I can eat good food and drink whatever the hell I want, not be scorching in midday sun or having to stay up all night fit ESPN's "dregs" time slot, and at halftime, when it's obvious that that we are headed for another L, there is no obligation to continue watching the latest massacre.

I am a third generation Bruin, Grandfather attended, but had to drop out during the depression, my Dad graduated and was a diehard Bruin fan until he passed away last month, I am an alum, and I have a brother who has a graduate degree from UCLA. And my teenaged daughter's dream school is UCLA.

And I fully support the idea of building a modestly sized on campus stadium.
