Whittingham's situation was nothing like Cignetti's. He was no longer wanted at Utah, and he had nowhere near the success Cignetti has had. And Utah was paying him half what Cignetti makes at Indiana. Again, Cignetti went 16-0! You cannot do better than that. Before that, he went 11-2. This year, they're 7-1. I think any questions about Indiana being able to sustain success have been answered. The guy is 34-3 there, with a different QB each season!
Neither Belichick nor Rich Rod left their good jobs for better jobs. Belichick was pushed out of NE and got little interest from other NFL teams. Rich Rod went to WV from Jacksonville St. These are guys who just wanted to work, somewhere, anywhere.
I've passed through Indiana. I'd bet the culture there is right up Cignetti's alley. Bob Stoops had a great run in Oklahoma, though few people would go there on vacation.
You could maybe convince me he might consider Texas or Alabama for $15+ million, but I'd still be doubtful. He already could have had Penn St. or Michigan. Clemson is so laughable.
Some coaches like where they're at. Penn St. went after Sitake, but he stayed at BYU. A lot of these coaches are learning that as long as you have good NIL support, you can win anywhere.
