so much that it will now come to white people, but the fact that it comes after that entire Japanese internment experience, coupled with the awareness of Holocaust, and the absence of any actual war for even a nominal justification. 9/11 was the closest we came to that point, conditions-wise, and while I'm sure a bunch of people had wet dreams at night fantasizing about rounding up muslims and throwing them in concentration camps, the Japanese internment example gave even those people a pause.
That's what makes this iteration of the policy more horrific. There is no pause. There is only a full on embrace of eliminationism that brings us back to that point in time that the nation collectively assumed we would not go back to.
(But then again, those memories are also being systematically erased, so we are where we are by design.)
