and Oakland, by that analogy, is SF's Brooklyn. If you consider how much more vibrant the music scene is in Oakland and how much art appears to be in the fabric of the city, there is something to that parallelism.
There may be more venues in SF,but the new bands and musicians are coming primarily out of Oakland, probably because it's more affordable an area than SF.
