He never locked the doors. If his top was up, he didn't want someone cutting through the top to get inside

Of course, he didn't leave anything valuable on the seats either.

The garage door is the same idea. You leave it open so they can see there's nothing valuable inside.

It's not like they store pallets of gold bullion in there.
