I love me some of the trolling that Newsom is doing, and as usual, I'll be voting for whoever runs against the fascists, but in reality, I don't see the Democratic Party as a viable source of opposition or a potential force for good. It is highly compromised, ideologically misaligned with their mission (assuming they can even remember at this point what that mission is supposed to be), and organizationally confused.
The only hope for the Democratic Party is if the Democratic Socialists, i.e., the Momdanis, the AOCs, etc take over the leadership. Anything short of that, we're in a hostage situation where we're the hostages and the Democratic Party is the hostage takers.
