You are complicating things.
They are picking the red team over the blue. Next time, they will pick the blue team over red.
When the blues disappoint them, they will pick red again and all of the things that go with the red team.
This is nothing more than crips vs bloods. There are a hardcore 35% that stay true to the team but the middle 30% will go back and forth.
The problem is that the red team has decided to erase any progress by the blue team two times in a row. The blue team will hopefully go scorched earth on the red team the next time they get in power.
This is just tribalism.
