Trump has pardoned all of the criminals he goaded into attacking the Capitol and has consistently lied about January 6 and the violence and havoc his lynch mob wreaked and peoples' short memory has let it all pass.
But if they put the cop on trial all of that would be dredged up and put in the public eye again, and the officer would have discovery and access to evidence.
He's not going to try the cop. Trump is just going to lie about it as it continues to fade from memory.
