I can't help but think Hegseth intends to vet these officers for faithfulness to Donald Trump. A lot of them may get fired. If that happens, it will mean that Donald Trump has taken over the US military.
The primary mission of the U.S. Armed Forces is to protect the security of the United States and its allies. I suspect Donald Trump intends to use them to protect himself and his allies, and to punish his political opponents.
And at this point, it's beginning to look like most of the US are his political opponents.
That's the kind of thing that happens in other countries, usually third-world countries. I hope it doesn't happen here...
