I've been lucky that my college is very good at following up on these types of grade mistakes but I've seen professors from other colleges not wanting to admit a mistake ruin student's opportunities.

Last summer I had worked with one of my students to work up the chain to the VP to finally intervein at a neighboring college to tell a part time faculty to knock this sh!t off.

It would have costed him a free ride to UCB. If the students wasn't in their 30s with a ton of maturity, it would have turned out poorly.

I've seen other very horrible things in graduate school by faculty. I remember watching a grad student shooting his advisor during his dissertation defense. Another graduate student and I joked, we need more information because it could be justified homicide.
