Where is the GOP going with health care?

Team Trump is leading the GOP to obliterate the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. If that should occur, a large number of Americans will lose their health care coverage, and many more will see huge increases in their premiums. The American public will be incensed.

The Republicans pols know this. They understand that if they don’t enable Americans to have decent, affordable health care, they will be voted out of office in a gigantic Democratic landslide.

So, what will they do? Is it possible that the sensible wing of the party (is there one?) will restore something very much like Obamacare, and simply call it Trumpcare? Since it will help people, the Dems will support it. And since it has Trump’s name on it, he’ll take credit for it.

On the other hand, if the GOP obliterates the ACA and doesn’t replace it with anything, do they think they can remain in power? Do they think they can still win elections... or have they concluded that they can manipulate the voting process to ensure their own success. In other words, do they know that elections won’t matter?
