I somehow doubt an administration that is deploying military vehicles and helicopters against US cities is worried about breaking precedent.

They are 100% allowed to do it, they aren't doing it because they do NOT want the government open. They made a calculation that they could blame it on the Dems, fire thousands of people, strip funding from Dems and the Dems would cave. So far the polls show people blame them not tjhe Dems. ANd it's getting worse.

Today Mike Johnson took a call from A Republican woman who said her kids might die if they don't extend the benefits, she won't be able to afford their meds. Johnson looked all concerned and then per reports after the thing ended he told aides as they were walking off he thought she was a fake caller planted by the Dems.

They are currently losing the battle over who to blame and they know it.

Wait until the Air Traffic Controllers start doing sick outs.
