A while back that “something about some mission of mer say” line for stuck in my head. Had to replay it in my head a couple of days to figure out it was a motels song. It’s kinda like that Girl in Trouble song by Romeo void. A pretty good song by an otherwise pretty forgettable band. My favorite of those from that era is Girl in the Back Seat by Tommy Tutone. IMO, a great song by an otherwise forgettable band.

You musta seen a loooooot of shows if you saw the motels several times. Who was your favorite local band? Who was the most surprisingly good?

My favorite early kroq song is Alice by the Naughty Sweeties. The original single was great. Then it got watered down on their album. It was inevitably disappointing when a band that had a great indie single released an album. Always the single got watered down. Like every punk song on a Rodney record is better than the version on that band’s album. Pretenders, GoGos, whoever it was that did that Zero Hour song, Dream Syndicate, all watered down their singles when their album came out. Even Devo’s indie singles are better than the first album version.

TSOL is playing at the observatory soon. W/o Jack?
