After one of the recent extrajudicial murders of people off Venezuela a picture of the boat went viral on right wing sites. It shows a "go fast" boat full of what looks like oil drums. Marc Rawdazza shared the pic and said I think we can all agree this boat is NOT full of fishermen? On that site 42000 MAGA morons liked the picture and hundreds of them commented how obvious it was they were drug boats.
Then Mehdi Hasan did what he does, and used Google Reverse image to look it up and surprise, the picture was originally uploaded in 2012. It turns out they took the picture from a research paper written in 2012 about smuggler and pirate go fast boats, so it's even older than 2012.
When that was made known on the thread, the MAGAs started attacking the person who posted it calling him a liar. They've posted literal links to the research paper where you can see that EXACT picture, and MAGA still insists it's a pic from 2025 of a boat Trumps admin blew up.
