Microsoft and Amazon are having record profits yet are laying of tens of thousands because their only incentive is stock price which have reach unsustainable valuations. Their only hope is that AI can replace half of their high paying workers which will lead to short term bottom line gains. The problem is that the economy will be destroyed.
I sued to think the turning point would be when everyone commercial vehicle was driverless but replacement by AI my beat that or actually cause a perfect storm sometime in the next 5 years. In any event, their will not be enough jobs to go around even though we will be producing far more than ever and with the results of that production going to a narrowing few.
