is no guarantee that there will be a downward pressure on prices.
You have an item priced for $10 and 100 people buy it.
You make it $15 and 90 people buy it.
You make it $20 and 80 people buy it.
You make it $50 and 50 people but it.
Then you say "a-ha" and price it at $50, and create a much cheaper, a much inferior version of it that's going to break if anyone looks at it long enough and price it at $10 or $20 to make sure you're reaching the rest of the market, while also making sure that they will have to buy it multiple times in their lifetimes because it's going to keep breaking.
That's the more traditional version of ensh*ttification.
So it is not so much a downward pressure on prices but the quality, to a greater extent.
And we all join in a chorus, singing praises of the genius of the system, the business savvy of the guy who created this situation and say "thank you sir, can we have some more?"
