FEC investigation is looking into Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt for what appears to be online campaign donations that violate FEC rules.
in 2023 a woman in Austin Texas donated 78.08 to him through WinRed an online donation site. since then she has made 1011 donations to Schmitt through the site and 126,739 donations to Republicans in total. There are 13 different donors with similar patterns donating to Schmitt alone, none of whome live in Missouri, and which the FEC has decided looks a bit fishy and appears to be a case of Republicans using WinRed to make massive donations without disclosing it by using these small online donors
Over 5700 donations to Schmitt totaling more than 85K. The federal limit is apparently 3500, several of these donors have exceeded that limit with Schmitt and others.
