My point is part of why Trump has been so successful in dismantling our democracy in 2.0 is the media is complicit.
Different country of course but when Duterte was trying to coup the Philippines he had people like Maria Ressa out there openly reporting what was going on, she went to prison over it, but she did her job and it played a large role in him NOT succeeding. Ironically lots of Filipinos to this day tell you they know he was an evil man but they felt safer when he was in charge. I have been there many times I know people who feel that way it's bizarre.
But in the US we have less of that. Some of it gets reported but nobody ever literally stands up when it's happening and says hey he's asleep. They ask Rubio about it and he lies and they let it go. The only people who are actually calling it out are comedians, Kimmel, Stewart etc.
It allows him to continue to captivate the fools. Many of them will never admit it of course but I think some of them would in fact wake up if this stuff was being called out in real time.
