from cats and dogs to gas prices in Ohio

The people who fell for they're eating the cats and dogs, are now falling for gas prices. If your social media is anything like mine you are being flooded by posts right now attempting to convince you gas is not that expensive and is the fault of blue states not red. The biggest ones doing this for my feed are Ohio and to a small extent indiana and Georgia. What do all 3 have in common?

They all temporarily suspended the gas tax before the midterms and are using their general fund to cover the cost. DeWine is taking 725 million from the general fund to cover the gas and diesel tax suspension. He actually tried to do it without doing that but Dems in the state pointed out state law requires they fund road maintenance so he had to take the money.

Ohio Dems, and the media are pointing out how unfair it is. Low income households who don't have cars are paying much higher prices too, at the grocery store, insurance etc, but only people who use gas are getting the savings. Ohio COULD have just given taxpayers a stimulus payment so they all got it but they chose to do gas because gas prices are the big talking point right now.

The general fund is paid by taxpayers, some of whom don't own cars. So they're now paying higher prices because of the war and their taxes are going to pay road repairs they don't drive on. Even if they say ride buses or taxis they could then use stimulus money to pay for it.

But Trump wanted a quick fix to try and juice the midterms so Red states are doing what he asked them to do.

Ohio is using 30% of their general fund to do this.

It's like he's running for class president and promising people less homework and longer recess.
