1. Yet again, another government plan intended to funnel more money into the stock market (also see Obama's health savings accounts). It's almost as if the powers that be in the finance sector decided they need more fresh money for the market to keep growing so that at the end of the day, more growth leads to more accumulation of wealth at the top.
2. Instead of addressing the underlying issues that makes it necessary for every child to enter the society with some pre-built capital (healthcare, education, housing, etc), we're tossing some ridiculously small amount of money into the pot with a promise that the market surely delivers to those who have faith in it, and pretend like this makes things better in the long run.
3. Sooooo, is this a way to make sure that every child born in the US is registered at some giant database? Because I could swear that folks had serious aversion to any large collection of data that can be established as a future "citizenship database" (not me, but that's another thread).
4. More tax write off for corporations with the added benefit of whitewashing all the stagnating, low wages that is the bigger problem (pay your workers better instead of tossing them a $500 annual pocket money for their kids).
A rule of thumb: if a solution is developed by mainstream politicians, one way or another, you're being screwed over. The trick is to find out how exactly.
