I'd say the tactic was to get/maintain possession, something we were fantastic at in the first half, completely dominating play, but unable to come up with a second goal, which has pretty much been this team's Achilles heel all year.
But MSU flipped the possession in the second half, and, no matter how good we are defensively, we were unable to either hold the lead, or threaten at all, mostly because all the midfielders were turtling and never got into any counter-attacks. You could also see it in how many fouls we committed in the second half - we got tired and were slower than MSU in the second.
After about 15 minutes of the second half, I knew we would both give up the equalizer, and then also cough up the lead.
