After we had our long (27 games last I remember) winning streak snapped the other day, I looked in at the baseball game in progress and we were behind 2-0 going into the fifth inning. Then we scored 4 in the bottom of the fifth and our pitching staff locked it down from there.
Was listening to Serius radio's college sports station and they were interviewing a top national reporter who covers college baseball, talking about the college World Series and they said you have to start with UCLA. The hosts asked him what makes this UCLA team special. He replied the core of the team has been together for three years now. And then they've added - and he ran off several names. And of course, the star - and likely #1 MLB draft pick in this year's draft the shortstop Cholowsky. But he said the other thing is the pitching staff. He said Coach Savage has six or seven pitchers who are likely to wind up in the major leagues.
Pretty impressive roster and a team that has earned all the talk and the highest expectations.
