the college sports guys on Serius College Sports satellite radio interviewed a top baseball reporter, a national guy. I mentioned him before - very high on the Bruins. But Basetball in the Big Ten was also part of the discussion and the emphasis was that the B1G made a huge jump in baseball when they added the four west coast teams. Colder, longer winters do not make for the best conditions for a spring and summer sport. To practice and prepare outdoors on a real baseball field that isn't snowed on several B1G schools send their squads down to Florida to play.
He did say there is more investment in baseball now in the conference and that the four west coast teams really need that for strength of schedule and just to become as good as they can be through high level competition.
