my comments. I only intended to respond to Miller's comments regarding UCONN's player fit to their system.
If a coach's system is designed to open up threes and layups, he'd better be able to build his team with players who are really good at both tasks (which UCONN obviously has). However, for whatever reasons, if he hasn't been able to bring in players who have the skills required to to execute that style properly, he won't win a lot of games trying to force that particular style on players who don't have the skills to execute it properly. In that case, if a coach wants to win a few more games, he'd be smart to install something that fits the players skills/abilities rather than try to force them to play a style they are not skilled enough to be successful with. That's my opinion based on my experience in the game.
But I do agree that a style that emphasizes threes, good player movement and passing, and in the paint points (near the hoop) is one that is a winning style (with the the right skill mix of players). That's a style that's fun to watch and one of the things I really like about this UCONN team. Plus I really like their coach, the good Hurley coach.
