People are in part attracted to college to watch young men grow from freshmen to seniors. Fans grow attached to players. If the roster keeps changing it is harder form attachements.

I understand it can be good for some players, but it also can be bad for others. The vast majority of these young men are not going to have careers playing basketball. Even most of them who play pro ball somewhere aren't going to make enough to live on for a lifetime. They need a career to fall back on and education means something.

In the days of NIL "student athlete" may seem meaningless, but for most of these players, education should be a serious part of the equation.
