Maryland is a very good team, especially at home. We were 5.5 pt dogs going in. This is not a bad loss.
As I’ve said before and I’ll say again, I think Perry is the key to this team improving. Giving him minutes last night was a step in the right direction. I think Mick’s biggest mistake so far this year was thinking his team was better than it was and that he didn’t need Perry to develop. Playing him only a handful of minutes in the last many games was a big mistake and now Perry is behind where he should be.
Continue to give him 20 min a game and I think he will improve quickly. Even last night in a hostile environment with no serious playing time in 6 weeks he held his own. He didn’t shoot well but his form looks good. He also can get to the rim and get layups which is something neither Andrews or Clark can do. He had 10 points yesterday on a bad shooting night. Dylan is averaging less than 5 points per game against our non-cupcake competition. Clark is averaging 7.8 pts per game against the 9 non cupcake teams we have played. High level college teams cannot compete without guard scoring.
Let Perry play through his mistakes. This team is going nowhere without him improving and developing. I think he has the talent to improve fast.
