My main issue with CMC's offense is that we rarely attack the paint (either via pass or dribble), instead the ball sticks on the perimeter for 20+ seconds a possession.
3's are made at a far greater rate when the ball is kicked out from the paint than on perimeter passes and screens.
When I watch just about every other College basketball team, they are able to generate shots at the rim about 5-10x more than we do.
I'd like to see Bilodeau and Mara down in the blocks getting a touch every possession, like we used to dump the ball to Zidek all the time, even if he didn't shoot. Instead, they are setting high screens, and not rolling 95% of the time, or not getting the ball when they roll.
I'd like to see Dailey in some of the screening action we ran with Juzang during the FF run. Juzang made a living breaking down defenses with the screens and we don't really do that anymore.
I'd like to see Mara and Bilodeau running the High-Lo. Both are far better passers than Bona was and will find open guys and get open.
As to the comps with the most efficient? I do think that was the players and not Cronin. I don't know that he teaches offense well, he definitely doesn't teach it as much as he teaches defense. He teaches ball security well, but that only leads to multiple shot clock violations every game.
