Even though there were a few things that bothered me philosophically about Howland's coaching, I always thought he was a very good coach. Even though I understood why he was let go I was sad to see him leave. I think if everyone concerned could have been more patient I believe he probably could have turned things around. I think UCLA basketball probably would have been in a pretty good position if Howland had been able to stay at and retire from UCLA. Having said that, I'm still glad Cronin is UCLA's coach. Howland looks good and seems to be enjoying his retirement. Living in Santa Barbara with lots of money - what's not to like? Good for him.
