but they changed to make the tournament same as the men's - not to court or avoid wipeouts early. Hopefully as more schools build their programs, that sort of result - which is very common in the women's tournament - will become fewer. The sis the first year schools have shared prize money for every game played - just as the men have long done. So certainly the financial rewards will be of great benefit to the smaller schools just starting to build their programs but your question is irrelevant. You play the tournament to play the tournament.
