I've also passed close to where Phil lives. When I've gone to Durango (see post below), I've come through Albuquerque then NW (can't think of the high way number. I'm sure you know which I mean) to Durango. It's just a beautiful area and a really nice drive, Albuquerque to Durango. You and Phil have both chosen beautiful areas to live in.
