or I've read that UCLA stands just below the big money schools. Okay, that sounds reasonable - maybe. Here's, however, what I think I'm seeing. There are schools that seemingly have gotten multiple big ticket transfers (expensive) transfers. We really don't know because what these kids are being paid is unknown. But on the surface that appears to be the case. Some schools after bringing in expensive players seem to be in the market for even more players that also appear to be expensive. Of course we don't know that either.
Now looking at UCLA, it appears that they brought in one big ticket transfer and perhaps a somewhat lesser big ticket transfer and three seemingly "bargain basement" type transfers. Now UCLA appears to be almost out of money from what we're hearing. Maybe they can bring in another "bargain basement" type player or maybe not. We can kind of assume all this by reading between the lines that may be imaginary or maybe not. Of course we don't really know. What we don't know is a lot.
If the initial premise is correct (that UCLA is just under the first tier of moneyed schools) then another speculation that could fall in line here should be that there might be a big gulf between what some consider the first tier and those schools in the second tier. But of course we don't really know that either.
