RIP David Greenwood, a great player. Overlapping and following Richard Washington, UCLA had a rarity at the time, tall smooth outside/inside shooters with rebounding skills.

UCLA tourney losses are always difficult for me, but Greenwood and the 79 team was also my biggest what if team What if they beat DePaul. I just wished we could have seen that UCLA team against Larry Bird. And if they could have won against ISU what about playing Magic and the Spartans.

In the second half against DePaul, alley oops to David were so automatic, but with a huge halftime deficit and no shot clock or three point line, there was just not enough time.

So I will end with a joyous winning memory. At Notre Dame, Phelps musclebound but not so fast team had a strategy to crash the offensive boards. Coach Cunningham had a brilliant plan. Let David outrebound the Irish muscle with his timing and leaping skills, release the guards at the time of the shot, and David threw outlets to wide open speedy guards for a great victory
