If Cronin fails to utilize Dent and open up the floor and the entire Bruins' attack then I think that's on Cronin and the team will be the less for it.
I though Cronin should have gone full in with Mara. I think he is that kind of game changer. Mara wasn't anywhere near his potential IMO and for that it would have been a bit of a gamble for Cronin to reshape everything to optimize Mara's huge upside. We'll see who was right. Maybe Cronin was right to keep developing Mara but hold off on going all in. Cronin was the one with his head on the chopping block, saw Mara everyday, and has the experience to be able to see all of this more clearly.
Because of that I have no problem with how he handled that situation. What I did see was that Mara through all this was becoming a much better basketball player. I believe that if he had stayed, by his senior year he would have been a hell of a player - maybe All American good. But he chose somewhere else. Oh well.
I'm curious to see how Cronin handles the Dent situation. I hope he opens everything up and plays a lot of up and down basketball with pressure on both sides of the ball. From what I've seen Dent can run a team like that. That's my favorite style of basketball. Fast offense coupled with lock down pressure defense and now we are in the realm of the great Arkansas and UNLV teams. That's what I'd like to see.
