Except for using a lot player, new Minnesota head coach Nico Medved looked like he was coaching a regular season game.
A few observations about the game. First, between the two teams they had 22 players who were not on the rosters last season. Welcome to the new age.
It was close for a while, but Minnesota pulled away against an outmanned team to win easily.
The Golden Gophers played almost exclusively 5 out on offense. They don't seem very strong at the center position.
Their star is likely to be North Carolina transfer Cade Tyson. He scored 28, and he was 6 of 9 on threes. He had zero assists.
They played pretty good man defense, holding the Bison to 35% and 21% on threes. Or course, it is not clear how strong NDSU is.
We travel to the Twin Cities at the end of February. It will be COLD, COLD, COLD. I spent a winter in North Dakota. I never want to even visit the part of the country in winter ever again.
