Here’s the best I can say about Mick Cronin: he’s Murray State and Cincinnati material. He’s never been close to being UCLA material. He was NOT our top choice to succeed Alford, and wasn’t even in our top 3. Others said no; Cronin, of course, said yes because he’ll never get a job offer like this again.
He got to a FF with Alford’s players. It was nice, but it was also misleading. Cronin will never get (and has never gotten) to a FF with a roster he built, and he’ll never again have guys like Jaquez and Campbell and Juzang, who can make even the most average coach look very good.
Cronin has a lousy attitude, and he’s not an open minded man. He’s also not very articulate, as his press conferences have shown for years.
UCLA can do better, and eventually we will.
