Cori Close has made remarkable improvements in her coaching over the years and now has done something only the most delusional of us believed could happen. So major props to her. Although she will have to start over next season, we now can be confident she knows how to get to the top.
But ironically, some of the same fans who are heaping praise on her now would have been insisting on firing her just a few years ago if she were the Men's coach. She went 13 seasons in the Pac-12 without winning a conference regular season or tournament championship while nine other schools did. Over that time she made five Sweet 16's and one Elite Eight, something Steve Lavin did (four S16, one E8) in less than half that time. Not good enough for some UCLA fans.
Now I'm not saying Cronin will win a national championship, just that fans can be fickle.
