it's unclear how Cronin intends to use Petty. His assists numbers don't cry out point guard. Cronin could be looking at Petty as a replacement for Clark as primarily a shooting guard with the ability to run point at times. That would mean that Cronin may be looking at Perry as his main point. Unless Perry improves his penetration abilities I think that could end up being a mistake. Perry has shown he can distribute the ball but not on a consistent basis. On defense, since Perry has trouble staying in front of quick guards, I could see Petty defending the opponent's quick guards and Perry defending the off guards. We'll see, but I would have liked to see a more pure point guard brought in. I do think Petty is a good addition and he's only going to be a sophomore, so you knows how this kid will develop. He seems to have the tools to improve on everything. Same is true for Perry going into his junior season maybe with the caveat that he is not that quick.
