and this is one of those things that we really don't want to be an issue for recruitment down the line, or the perception of the team in national media.

I think we're still living the after effects of the Caitlin Clark vs Angela Reese tension that may have moved to WNBA since then, but the scar it left behind still feels a little raw. (Geno Auriemma's tantrum in the final four surely did not help.)

(On a side note, I am finding women's basketball to be much more racially aware than men's (almost a throwback to the 90s Lakers vs Celtics rivalry). I suspect it has to do with at least the appearance that the black to white player ration is not as lopsided in women's bball as it is with men's. This is probably an uncomfortable thing for a lot of (white) fans I suppose -- but I can't tell you how many pro Caitlin Clark and anti Angela Reese posts I used to get in my fbook feed a while back, until I decided to blanket bomb them with "not interested/do not show". )

So yeah, I think this may be a thing that is more out there than we would like it to be.
