I see is Blue and Gold. That's just me. All this stuff never occurred to me during this amazing championship run, but I suppose for some more than others, it's there. I didn't get that from this team or the coach. They all professed a love for each other and that they are family...sisters. In all the commentary I've seen from other coaches or WBB commentators on Youtube, I did not hear anyone discuss this matter with respect to this team. They focused on UCLA's play. All these individuals, coaches and commentators, have said that Cori Close is a great human being, one who loves the game and has done a lot to advocate for WBB. Coach Dawn Staley has said some wonderful things about Coach Close after losing the Championship game. Other team players have said kind things about our players and this left me with a good feeling in my heart...that even our opponents respect us in that way.
If this message board has alluded to the current state of race relations in the United States and how this may affect the perception our UCLA's athletic programs, then I think the discussion is worthy if we do so with love in our heart and respect for other people's opinions. We've come a long way since 1965 and we have some way to go, but for right now I am just going to enjoy this amazing Championship run.
