I think most if not ALL of the Cronin detractors recognize him as being a pretty good coach, who does a pretty good job of recruiting pretty good players. And I suspect that would similarly agree that he fields pretty good teams that are generally thought of as being pretty well coached, and that win a pretty good number of games. And most would also point out that he does all of this while being the 8th highest paid coach in college basketball (he was previously even higher), that he is next level Great and ensuring that his antics bring negative attention to the program multiple times every season, and is a whining, complaining, excuse making baby who constantly deflects and defers taking any personal responsibility for the quality of the product he puts on the court.
His overall record is indeed "pretty good," as is having taken his team to the tournament 2 out of the 3 years and 5 out of the last six, and even having managed to get past the first round a few times, though none in the past 3 years. So yes, we are very fortunate to have a pretty good coach who compares relatively favorably to dozens of other pretty good coaches out there.
