Under the NCAA 5 for 5 proposal:
Athletes get 5 full years to play 5 seasons
The clock starts at:
High school graduation OR age 19 (whichever comes first)
It replaces the current system of:
4 seasons in 5 years
In simple terms:
Instead of needing a “redshirt” year to get a 5th season, everyone just gets 5 seasons automatically.
