One of the most traditional examples of UCLA athletics’ organizational and financial disarray is the fact that Pauley Pavilion is managed by UCLA Recreation, and that the athletic department is nothing more than a tenant/client of the facility.
It also means that the UCLA athletic department does not greatly benefit from the revenue generated by its own athletic events in the facility. UCLA basketball, for instance, has to actually pay a fee to utilize its own basketball arena.

This is now changing.
From what we know, the process has begun of turning over the management of Pauley Pavilion — and the majority of the revenue generated by athletic events in Pauley — to the athletic department.
From sources close to the situation, it’s a fait accompli, it’s just a matter of unwinding and sorting through organizationally.
Not only will the UCLA athletic department wrest control of Pauley Pavilion, but other athletic venues on campus, such as Drake Stadium and the Wallis Annenberg Soccer Stadium.
